zanna, don't! - 2003

MUSIC:
Tim Acito
BOOK & LYRICS: Tim Acito & Alexander Dinelaris

ZANNA, DON'T! tells the story of a matchmaker in a fictional world where roles are reversed and heterosexuality is taboo. It's a loving tribute to the best and worst of pop culture, even the title is a nod to the cult 1980's movie, Xanadu. Zanna, the show's title character, is his school's matchmaker, the only person he has been unable to match is himself.

The show started life in 2002 with an experimental opening, but didn't open properly off-Broadway until the following year - when it starred Queer Eye For The Straight Guy's Jai Rodriguez as Zanna. Despite valiant efforts, Zanna, Don't! never transferred to Broadway or the West End, though it did have a short off-West End run at The Space, later transferring to Upstairs At The Gatehouse.
