Based on the 1992 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg, SISTER ACT
lends itself perfectly to the stage. It tells the story of a Las Vegas
showgirl on the run for witnessing a murder. Being the type of girl
who, well, stands out, she is disguised as a nun and hidden in
a convent.
Sister Act started out in Pasadena, California before transferring to
Atlanta Georgia prior toopening in London's West End. The songs,
ranging from disco to show-stopping showtunes, were penned by
Disney legend Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater - also famous
for his contributions to Disneymovies.
