FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is one of the world's best loved musicals of all time. This story of a Jewish milkman choosing between tradition and his heart brought actor Topol to fame. The show has been revived many times, including a recent production on Broadway starring Alfred Molina and a UK tour starring Paul Nicholas.
The original Broadway production became the longest running musical of its time running for over three thousand performances and winning nine Tony awards. The 1971 movie garnered three academy awards including Best Scoring for John Williams, who went on to score movies such as Home Alone, Star Wars and the Harry Potter series.
Fiddler On The Roof is based on the short story Tevye And His Daughters by Sholom Alacheim which was written in 1905 and appeared throughout Eastern Europe before appearing in Yiddish publications in the United States.
